This theory is widely accepted not only to be the definitive conspiracy theory regarding Titanic but also the actual true story of what happened in the early part of 1912.
As they weren’t expecting rockets none of these ships moved into help and instead of an insurance scam the White Star lines greed was actually responsible for one of the worst peacetime maritime disasters. Not only did Titanic (Which is now Olympic) hit an iceberg early, she also went down with over 1,500 lives as her crew, who were unaware of the arranged pickup, fired off distress rockets instead of rendezvousing with the SS Californian and other ships in the area. The RMS Titanic would continue to serve as the Olympic in a successful 24 year career while the RMS Olympic would die as her younger sister. Rescue ships would be positioned in the area of the sinking to take off the passengers and crew and all knowledge of the switch would be kept to a select few people. She would then be sunk deliberately by the company and they would be able to claim the insurance for a brand new ship which amounted to $7.5 million in a massive insurance scam. The latter would enter service as her older sister whereas the former would sail on a second maiden voyage. They intended to switch Olympic with Titanic. Following the incident she was docked in Belfast for repairs alongside her sister Titanic (see above image) and here the White Star Line board of directors hatched a plan. As a result she would never operate well again and would probably never again pass a board of trade inspection. The theory suggests that following her collision with HMS Hawke the RMS Olympic was fatally damaged. This is not only the most developed and accepted conspiracy theory regarding RMS Titanic but is also one of the most documented and thought out in history. The theory, as its name suggests, proposes that the titanic that sank was not the RMS Titanic but instead her unlucky older sister rebadged as RMS Titanic. Chief among these is the so called Switch Theory. There are several conspiracy theories regarding the ill-fated maiden voyage of the RMS Titanic.
